Crux for climbers is a mobile app for individuals which allows you to record all your climbing sessions, both ‘done’ and ‘planned’, with the added benefit of research-backed information for how your training pattern could affect your risk of injury. Crux helps you to train well and stay well.

Recording Climbs

Climbing sessions can be recorded for the past or future. A high level of detail can be entered such as:

  • Climb types – over 20 specific climb-types eg “indoor sport bottom-roping” or “outdoor trad headpoint”
  • Climb grades from 10 different grading systems (including french sport, british trad, vermin, font)
  • Rate of perceived exertion – to measure internal load

Train smart, reduce injury risk

One of the major benefits of the Crux is enabling you to train well and understand the potential impact on your injury risk. This is done through analysis of the internal and external loads involved in your climbing sessions and what this means. Graphs and metrics such as Monotony, Strain and Acute Chronic Workload Ratio help inform you on the level of current risk.

Crux for coaches

A sister app “Crux for Coaches” will enable climbing coaches to view the data and analysis for their students. It will also offer the feature to ‘push’ planned sessions to the individuals to optimise their training.

Crux for climbers is currently in beta-testing before full release on both Android and iOS. Get in touch if you would like to take part in beta testing.
